Yes, your Tesla can charge at any of our charging stations. Just make sure that you have a J1772 adapter for your Tesla’s proprietary charging port. This adapter will allow you to charge at most non-Tesla charging stations.

Yes, as a courtesy to other drivers trying to use the charge station, we ask that you move your EV when your charge is complete. NOTES:

  • TechFlow managed stations service both government fleet and authorized private vehicle charging
  • Private Vehicle Users:
    • Please note that all locations will charge a penalty price after the charge grace period (typically 15 minutes but the policy is established by each base) has expired.
    • Pricing policies are listed on the station port screen in the app. Drivers can turn on notifications from your account page in order to receive an SMS and/or email once their charge is complete.
  • Government Fleet Vehicles:
    • While government fleet vehicles do not incur penalties, it is always strongly encouraged that a vehicle is moved upon completion of charging to make the charger available for other fleet and private vehicles.

For most stations, you can simply unplug the charger from your vehicle to end your session. For some Level 3 chargers, you may need to hit a stop button on the charger to end your session. If you started your session with an RFID card, you may need to swipe your RFID card again in order to end your session.

If you are having trouble with a charging station use one of the options as appropriate:

  • Private Vehicle users with the mobile application may contact us using the customer support form in the application, or contact our 24/7 driver support line at 833-575-0778 or send an email to driversupport@techflow.com . Our team will assist and help you find you an operational charging station if the issue cannot be resolved over the phone.
  • Fleet Vehicle users contact our 24/7 driver support line at 833-575-0778 or send an email to driversupport@techflow.com . Our team will assist and help you find you an operational charging station if the issue cannot be resolved over the phone.

TechFlow Charging EV charging support at various DoD and other government locations servicing both government fleet and private vehicle (for authorized users) offers the most flexible, cloud-based EV charge station solutions. The network is designed to provide managed EV Charging capabilities servicing both government owned and operated vehicles as well as site authorized private electric vehicle charging services.  Government vehicles leverage the RFID token assigned to the respective vehicle to invoke charging services.  Authorized private individuals may charge their vehicles while at the government location by leveraging the issued RFID tags and/or the TechFlow mobile application.  Private owner authorization, fees and grace periods are determined by the individual base.

The local base leadership or “Site Host” of the charging station determines the pricing policies and determines which private individuals are permitted to use the charging services. Government fleet vehicles assigned to the based are authorized to charge once registered in the system.

NOTE for authorized private individuals: A pricing policy will charge a fee for either energy(kWh) consumed or time spent charging. There could also be additional fees if a vehicle is left connected to the station for extended periods of time. You can view the pricing policy within each station’s info page on the TechFlow mobile application. Simply scan or manually enter the station’s QR code to view the station info and pricing policy.

Level 2 equipment offers charging through a 240V, AC. Level 2 charging equipment is compatible with all-electric vehicles and plug-in electric hybrid vehicles. Depending on the battery technology used in the vehicle, Level 2 charging generally takes 4 to 6 hours to completely charge a fully depleted battery.

Level 3 equipment, also called DC fast chargers, use a high-voltage DC plug. Most Level 3 chargers provide an 80% charge in 30 minutes. This type of Level 3 equipment is not compatible with all vehicles, and the charge itself is not accepted by all vehicles. Level 3 chargers are being deployed across the United States in public or commercial settings. Check your vehicle guide to see if your EV is able to accept Level 3 charging.

The listed station power is a maximum charging rate that station can provide, but a number of factors can cause your EV to charge at a slower rate. Usually, the charging rate is limited because the vehicle is limiting the charging rate. The most common causes of a lower rate are:
• the EV’s maximum allowed charging rate is lower than the charger’s max rate.
• The EV is limiting the charging rate because the battery is nearly full (example: over 80% SOC).
• The EV is limiting the charging rate because the battery pack isn’t functioning correctly Refer to your EV’s manual to learn more.

  • Government Fleet Vehicles: RFID cards are issued with the vehicle and may only be used to charge that vehicle. Usage of this card for receiving services for any other vehicle is strictly prohibited and can result in punitive consequences based on based enforcement policy.
  • Private Vehicle Users: RFID cars are distributed to individuals based on approval to use the service by the local base management. You can register your RFID card by clicking the Add Key Fob button on your account page.
  • Private Vehicles: Roaming stations are stations that are part of a different network. Imagine having Verizon as your cell phone network, but you have access to use Sprint cell phone towers – that’s essentially how roaming stations work. Roaming stations are not part of our network, so you must use a separate (other than the TechFlowEV application) mechanism provided by other commercial EV charging services to use stations outside of the TechFlow Network.
  • Government Fleet Vehicles: Roaming stations are stations that are part of a different network. Imagine having Verizon as your cell phone network, but you have access to use Sprint cell phone towers – that’s essentially how roaming stations work. Roaming stations are not part of our network, so you must use the GSA issued RFID token associated with the government vehicle to charge on networks other than the TechFlow network.

We do not control the pricing for those stations. Pricing is controlled by the roaming network. We highly recommend reading all the pricing details before charging.

There can sometimes be roaming fees that you may be charged using a roaming station.

  • Private Vehicles: The fees and charging enablement is based on the vendor providing the services. The TechFlowEV application does not support charging at stations outside of the TechFlow Network.

Government Vehicles: Government vehicles should use the GSA issued RFID card associated with the vehicle when charging outside of the TechFlow network.  All charges associated with the services provided by that network are charged against the GSA issued card.

Support for issues or questions at stations outside of the TechFlow Network are provided by the owner/operator of the station.  TechFlow does not provide service support for any stations or services outside of the TechFlow network.

Reservations are not currently supported on the TechFlow network due to priority of servicing Government Fleet Vehicles as a priority of this service.

  • Private Vehicles: The TechFlow mobile application only works stations in the TechFlow network. If you wish to charge on other networks we recommend setting up an account with EV Charging service(s) that support commercial charging networks, that provide you with the appropriate charging services and coverage to meet your driving practices.
  • Government Vehicles: You should be able to charge outside of the TechFlow network by using the GSA issued RFID associated with the government vehicle while outside of the TechFlow network.
  • Private Vehicles: The TechFlow mobile application will not show roaming stations as it is designed to only service charging to authorized users on government sites. To find service availability outside of the TechFlow Network we recommend setting up an account with EV Charging service(s) that support commercial charging networks, that provide you with the appropriate charging services and coverage to meet your driving practices.

Government Vehicles: Currently there is not a means to find charging locations outside of the government facilities.  However, your GSA issued RFID associated with the vehicle should work at most commercial charging locations.

  • Private Vehicles: The TechFlow mobile application does not support charging at stations outside of the TechFlow Network. We recommend setting up an account with EV Charging service(s) that support commercial charging networks, that provide you with the appropriate charging services and coverage to meet your driving practices. To begin a charging session, you must follow the instructions provided by the service provider you have selected.
  • Government Vehicles: Using the GSA issued RFID you should be able to start charging following the instructions for the local network to initiate RFID based charging sessions.
  • Private Vehicles: Neither your government issued RFID card associated with the TechFlow network account or the TechFlow Mobile application will work at roaming stations.
  • Government Vehicles:  The GSA issued RFID associated with the vehicle should work to initiate charging sessions at roaming locations.

The cost of charging at a roaming station is set by the roaming partner. We do not add any additional fees in order to use the roaming station.

There are no fees to charge between networks.
