Celebrating Earth Day

At TechFlow, we are often challenged to build solutions that address the environmental impact of our customers’ operations. We take pride in the work we have done in this area. For example, our Energy and Mobility Solutions Division puts the best-of-breed innovations in energy systems and platforms to work for our customers to drive performance and effectiveness. Our energy-saving technologies and mobility solutions go deeper to ensure energy is not only used efficiently, but also employed effectively and securely.

Earth Day seems like the perfect time to reflect on this work and the role we play in protecting our environment. To that end, I think it is important to take a closer look at the person at the helm of these important initiatives:  Michael Genseal, TechFlow Vice President and Division Manager, Energy and Mobility Solutions.

Michael started his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff before transitioning into electrical engineering where he rose quickly through the ranks by infusing innovation and cutting-edge engineering and project management capabilities into program execution. After over 20 years with electrical construction and energy solutions providers, he transitioned to leading systems integrators and consultants culminating in joining TechFlow as the Director of the Energy and Mobility Solutions Division in 2017. At TechFlow, he demonstrated immense capacity for innovation and delivery and was quickly promoted to Vice President. Michael notes, “What I like most about TechFlow is our entrepreneurial spirit – it feels like a start-up environment, but we have the stability behind us to really build on the momentum and innovation that our teams bring to the table.”

In his day-to-day, Michael remains focused on program and project execution, infusing innovation, and keeping everything connected. One of the projects the Energy and Mobility Solutions team has been working on is an autonomous transport innovation program that will reduce risk and soldier presence in the battlefield. “The best part of my job is being able to directly enhance the safety and effectiveness of our Country’s warfighters,” states Michael.

Much of his work also has a very positive impact on the environment. Michael and his team are leading organizations into the future with next-gen energy saving technologies and mobility solutions including deploying vehicle-to-grid (V2G) initiatives that harness the unused energy of resting electric vehicles to provide power to critical equipment during peak period. This allows power providers to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels like coal and diesel fuel, resulting in a reduction of their overall carbon footprint while increasing the adoption of electrical vehicles by expanding the value of ownership.

Michael’s commitment to service goes beyond his job with TechFlow, since 2015, Michael has served as a Flight Officer/Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Team Lead for his local Police Department. Michael, a licensed pilot, and his team fly drones providing search and rescue support and provide aerial overwatch for warrant and special weapons and tactics (SWAT) operations. A highlight of this service includes rescue efforts to successfully locate and recover a number of missing and at-risk children.

Michael’s Energy and Mobility Team is growing with a surge of organic growth, innovative research projects gaining traction, and increased engagement with DOD, Civilian and commercial customers.
